Help for the photos you can't replace.

Family photos.
All together.

Your photos and videos are scattered across old phones, computers, drives, discs and apps. We help bring them together, sort them out, and plan backup copies—so your family can find and enjoy them again.

Start with what you know. We'll help work out the rest.

Fewer places to look. More moments to enjoy.

All those photos.
Back in your life.

The kids growing up. A voice you miss. A holiday you still talk about. Packrat is a personal service to help you look after the photos, videos and files that matter to your family.

01 / BRING TOGETHER

Photos & videos, easier to find.

We help gather the files from the places you've kept them, then organize them with useful names, years and occasions. We agree on how to handle duplicates and keep what matters.

02 / MAKE COPIES

A backup plan you understand.

Agree where extra copies will live, who can get to them and how long they'll be kept. Know what's been copied and what needs attention in the years ahead.

03 / ENJOY AGAIN

Old files you can open today.

Some old photos and videos need a different file format to work on a newer device. We assess what's possible, make agreed versions, and keep the original files too.

And help with the other things you've kept.
04 / COLLECTIONS

Make sense of the other things you keep.

Music, personal files, records, books and memorabilia. We organize digital files and make useful lists of collections and personal inventories, with the details that help you find things.

05 / IMPROVE A PICTURE

A clearer view of an old memory.

We can assess suitable photos and videos for cleanup or upscaling to a larger size. We agree on realistic results first, with the original kept alongside the new version.

06 / PLAN AHEAD

Make things easier to pass on.

Organize important documents, account lists and password backup plans for the people you choose. We help make your authorized materials easier to understand and hand over.

Unsure what's on it? That's a place to start.

A few old phones?
A cupboard of drives?

You don't need to open every folder or sort things before asking for help. Tell us what you have and which memories you most want to find.

We also take on extremely large, very messy collections. We start by understanding what's there and agree on a manageable plan, one stage at a time.

“Where did we put those pictures?”

Remember the day.
Find the pictures.

The lake trip. Grandma's kitchen. That first school day. Organizing photos by the people, years and occasions you remember makes them easier to find again.

This made-up example shows one way to organize family photos. Try searching for “lake” or “birthday.” We agree with you on a format you'll be comfortable using.

A person to help you through it

You don't need a plan.
Just a place to start.

01

Tell us where things are.

“There's an old phone in a drawer, some photos on the laptop, and a box of discs.” That's plenty to start a conversation.

02

Choose what you need.

We look at what you have, explain what we can help with, and give you a written plan and price to review before work begins.

03

Know where your memories are.

We walk through what's been organized, how to find it, and where the agreed backup copies are. You'll know what's included and what to look after next.

A price for your project.

The amount of material, its condition and the help you need determine the price. We assess that with you before giving a quote.

A few things to know

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Do I need to organize anything first?

No. A rough description is enough: old phones, a computer, a box of discs, photos in an app. We'll help work out what's there and what matters most.

Can you get photos off any old phone or app?

It depends on the device, its condition and the options the app provides. We assess that with you before agreeing to the work. You'll need to be authorized to access the material; damaged devices, locked accounts and missing files may need a different kind of help.

What happens to my original files?

When we change a file's format or improve a picture, we keep the original as well. Before making changes, we agree on how to handle duplicates and what you'll get back.

Can you improve old photos and video?

Suitable files can be enlarged or cleaned up, depending on the source. Upscaling can change the appearance and introduce generated detail; it cannot reliably recover detail that wasn't captured. We assess examples and agree on the result you want first.

What does long-term backup include?

We agree on the number of extra copies, where they'll be kept, who can get to them and for how long. Any ongoing storage, upkeep or future help is spelled out in the written plan.

Can you help with digital end-of-life planning?

Yes. We can help organize materials you're authorized to manage, document where things are, and plan for password backups and a handover to chosen people. Legal decisions and account access rules need the appropriate professional or provider. Please don't send passwords or sensitive records by email.

How much will my project cost?

Start with a description of what you have and what you'd like help with. After taking a look, we'll give you a written plan and price to review before work begins.

One less thing hanging over you

Where are your
family photos?

An old phone in a drawer? A computer you rarely turn on? Tell us a little about it, and we'll work out the next step together.

Just tell us where you think your photos and videos are, and what you're hoping to find or keep. It's fine if you're not sure how much there is.

Start with a description. Please don't email passwords or private files, or send devices or irreplaceable originals before we've agreed on a plan.
